GRAMMAR: adjectives and adverbs

LOS ADJETIVOS MODIFICAN AL SUSTANTIVO / describen al sustantivo

LOS ADVERBIOS MODIFICAN AL VERBO /describen la acción

 

Mary is a brave girl.

 (adjective+ noun)

Mary acts bravely.

(verb+ adverb)

¿Cuál es la diferencia entre un adjetivo y un adverbio ?

 

La principal diferencia  que el adjetivo aparece antes de un sustantivo y el segundo después de un verbo. Además, los adverbios se escriben con un –LY al final, así que los podrás identificar visualmente con rapidez.

Examples:

• It was a BAD match, cuando describes al sustantivo MATCH.
• The teams played BADLY, si describes la forma en la que jugaron.

Por otro lado, también puedes escoger entre un adjetivo o un adverbio  para decir exactamente lo mismo.

 

Examples:

• The dog is happy 🐕😊 → adjective

• The dog runs happily 🐕💨 → adverb
